The Suicide Prevention Research Team, housed within the Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at Florida State University, is made up of doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students dedicated to advancing college student mental health. Our research focuses on suicide prevention, well-being, and the critical role of social connection and belonging in undergraduate life. In this project, we focused on how to support and strengthen social connections, as research shows it can serve as a protective factor against suicide, suicidal ideation, depression, and self-harm. We worked to identify meaningful ways to support students and encouraged them to create opportunities they believe will foster connection on campus. These student-driven initiatives are featured in the project tabs.
